Plans announced for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend 2022
On 6th February 2022 Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. The bank holiday will provide an opportunity for Southfleet and Betsham residents to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.
The Parish Council has been advised that celebrations in the parish will include (full details to follow)
- Thursday 2nd June – Beacon lighting ceremony at Broadditch Farm – by the cricket Green at 9.30pm, beacon lit at 9.45 by Mr F and W Harris
- Saturday 4th June – Picnic at the Village Hall (register your interest at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/southfleet-platinum-jubilee-picnic-tickets-259407092597
- Sunday 5th June – Individual Street parties
The Parish Council has received 30 Woodlands Trust tree saplings which will be planted throughout the parish as part of the “Queens Green Canopy” initiative. It has also presented 200 packs of wildflower seeds to parish children enhancing the environment and attracting wildlife.
