HRH, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, KG, Admiral of the Fleet, First Gentleman of the Realm, etc., has left harbour, outward bound on his last voyage.
He goes with our thanks for his long service of duty. HRH achieved much in his long service; he was one of the first to raise concerns about the impact of human activities on Planet Earth, and damage to wildlife. He set about encouraging young people to take part in adventures, sport, wider fellowships, and improve their health.
He was a enduring supporter of our Armed Forces and Veterans.
Impeccable on State occasions, on other occasions a carefully timed “gaffe” on what might seem a dull visit, could cause a ripple of amusement. He wrote books, held discussions on science and technology; and became a deft hand at estate management.
His was a very full life.
As he arrives on his safe shore, perhaps we could all SPLICE THE MAINBRACE to say thank you.
